Dangerous Heat Expected Today

Estimated reading time:1 minute, 42 seconds

Today many of our southeastern counties are under an excessive heat warning and advisories as temperatures will sore into the 90s and real feel temperatures will surpass 100 degrees. However, just because these counties are the only ones under an advisory, does not mean the rest of us will escape the heat.

Below is the latest HRRR model projecting our high temperatures for today:

Please remember in the above image is the ACTUAL temperature. The southeastern third of the state will have temperatures sore well into the 90s, and even near 100 degrees as you get closer to the Philadelphia region. The rest of us will still have warm temperatures, but will be a little more bearable with actual temperatures staying in the 80s or below.

What has us the most concerned today is the humidity that will create oppressive REAL FEEL temperatures. Below is our forecast real feel temperatures:

AREA A – This is the area under most concern which does include the Philadelphia area. Real feel temperatures will range anywhere from 100 to 105 degrees. Stay indoors as much as you can and keep hydrated. Check on the elderly and keep pets indoors.

AREA B – Real feel temperatures will range between 95 and 100 degrees. Do not go outside for a long period of time and stay as hydrated as possible. Check on the elderly and keep pets indoors.

AREA C – Real feel temperatures are expected to range between 90 and 95 degrees. Stay hydrated as much as possible when you are outside and check on your elderly and keep pets indoors.

AREA D – Real feel temperatures will top off around 90 degrees. Stay hydrated, check on your elderly and keep pets indoors.

*Areas in northcentral and northwestern will have real feel temperatures below 85 degrees.
