A much above average snowfall is expected this year, with below average temperatures especially the farther Northwest you go in this region. Lake Effect snow is likely to be a big player this year with a warmer than average Lake Erie. Combination of cold air and a warm lake is a perfect recipe for Lake Effect snows on top of synoptic Winter Storms. All areas in the red are expected to receive 50% more than their average season snowfall, while areas in the blue are expected to receive 35% more than their average snowfall.
