Today featured near-record high temperatures across the region, with our southern valleys basking in sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s!  Meanwhile, the serious drought conditions continue to worsen.   As the month draws to a close tonight, some areas will log their driest month on record.

A cold front crossing our area Friday morning could provide some light showers to some people, but it will barely be enough to make the ground wet.  Remember to turn clocks back 1 hour at 2am Sunday!

Next week will be another warm and dry week with additional days with highs in the 70s possible in our southern valleys!   Unfortunately, the drought is likely to continue to worsen next week.  While there will be a couple opportunities for rain, but amounts will likely be on the light side.

FRIDAY

Friday will start very mild with temperatures staying in the 50s and even some 60s tonight into Friday morning! A cold front will cross the region during the pre-dawn and early-morning hours, accompanied by a few very-light showers that will barely get the ground wet in most locations.   A few of the luckier spots in our northern counties could get a tenth of an inch of rain, but that will not help the drought conditions.

Behind the cold front, the opportunity for showers will end during the morning and wind gusts to 30 mph will commence.   This will deliver colder air to our northwestern counties during the afternoon, driving their temperatures down through 40s by sunset.  That colder air won’t reach the southeastern parts of our area until evening, and they will enjoy yet another mild day with highs in the 70s.   Please refrain from outdoor burning, as the strong wind and extremely dry conditions will make for very high wildfire danger!

SATURDAY

Saturday will feature partly to mostly sunny conditions and cooler weather, although the temperatures will still be slightly above normal for this time of year.  There will be a slight breeze from the northwest to gently coax residual autumn leaves from the trees and float them to the ground.  Remember to turn clocks back 1 hour at 2am Sunday morning!

SUNDAY.

Sunday morning will start in the 20s, with temperatures once again climbing to slightly-above-normal levels by afternoon, along with partly to mostly sunny skies.   Do not forget that the clocks were turned back 1 hour at 2am!
