It was nice to go for a mile walk along the Riverwalk in Rock Hill, SC today without sweating buckets. I actually didn’t need to worry about dehydration or heat stroke. This trend could continue into mid June!

NOT AS HOT FIRST HALF OF JUNE

While it will still feel warm outside, and the humidity will naturally increase since we live in the South, it will still be bearable. You should still take all health-related heat precautions, but into mid-June they don’t look to be as extreme.

Temperatures could trend near normal through June 15th overall, but that will be a welcome trend since it can get very hot in the South this time of year. The Euro is showing near normal temperatures, but the GEFS is indicating some cooler shots of air arriving on backdoor cool fronts. The image below is for around the 7th

BELOW AVERAGE TRENDS CONTINUE

After the 7th and 8th of the month, the cooler air looks to linger to our west, however we will still feel it. This will be much welcome news for outside workers, joggers, bikers, and walkers. It might not be ideal pool weather, however.

The bearable temps could continue into the 15th. The GEFS is indicating a pattern that supports this.

TEMPERATURE TRENDS

So what kind of temperatures are we expecting for daytime highs? Temperatures overall look to remain “sane.” There could be some days where some locations reach 90 F, but it may be a struggle to get that warm into the 15th. Below are the expected highs heading into later this week.

The below high temperatures expected for next weekend could be the common theme for the first half of this month.

The takeaway idea is it will still feel like summer since it’s June, but there is no way that any heatwaves are expected for our region anytime soon. Some days could reach 90 and even slightly above, but there will be no mid 90s or 100s.

Some days will be better for the pool than others. If you like to work on your tan, then some days will be better than others since clouds and showers could persist, especially inland.

Air conditioning costs should not be excessive, which is one of the benefits of normal to slightly below normal temperatures.
