Whether you want to believe it or not, the temperatures for this weekend are trending even colder. Many areas will not have a “feels like” temperature above 0 degrees both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday Afternoon’s “feels like” temperature: saturday afternoon

Some areas Saturday will not feel warmer than negative 20 degrees..simply incredible, however highly dangerous.

Think those numbers are cold? Check out Saturday Night/Early Sunday Morning Temperatures: wind chill satur

Most locations in PA will have a “feels like” temperature between negative 15 and negative 30 degrees. While some locations may approach the negative 40 degree mark…yes…NEGATIVE 40.

Temperatures will not rebound much Sunday Afternoon: sunday afternoon

This is NOT to be taken lightly. We are not here to scare any of you. We are here to warn you of potential deadly cold that will especially target animals and the elderly. You must NOT leave any of your pets outside at any give time during the weekend. Please..please..if you have elderly neighbors/relatives/friends whatever the case may be, make sure to check in on them every now and then.

If you have any plans that involve you being outside this weekend, we suggest you to cancel them. If not, do NOT stay outside no longer than 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you will be exposed to frostbite. Don’t believe us? Check out this chart from the National Weather Service:

wind chill chart

I outlined in a red box where most of PA locations will fall under. For areas that do get below negative 30 degrees, frostbite will occur in about 10 to 15 minutes of your skin being exposed to the air.

How’s next week’s storm looking? Right now, model guidance is all over the place, however they all seem to agree on a large storm system to hit the area sometime between late Monday through Wednesday. Areas further West…State College, Johnstown, Pittsburgh..etc.. have the best shot at seeing all snow, while areas East of the Susquehanna River may see a snow to ice to maybe even a change over to rain event. In either case, this looks to be a high impact storm as it currently stands. A lot will change over the next several days. We will have more updates on the storm potential for next week Tomorrow Evening.

As difficult as it is, he greatly enjoys forecasting for Pennsylvania due to its countless microclimates. The state is an East Coast severe weather hotspot and nearly always home to the rain/snow line during winter storms!
