The annual Geminid meteor shower provided a spectacular display last night with around 100 per hour!  The shower peaked early this afternoon, and high rates will still be possible tonight.

FRIDAY

We will experience clear skies, breezy conditions, and above-normal temperatures Friday.
.

SATURDAY

Temperatures will only fall to around freezing Friday night, with another day of above-normal temperatures scheduled for Saturday.  Meanwhile, a storm system will gather strength over the Gulf of Mexico Friday, and start to spread clouds into our area later on Saturday.

SUNDAY

That system with strengthen into a powerful coastal storm that will spread heavy rain and windy conditions into our area Sunday into Monday.  Another 1-3″ rain is likely with this system.

NEXT WEEK

Heavy rain and windy conditions will last through at least Monday.   There could be some mixed precipitation in our area on the back side of the low late Monday or Tuesday, but without much cold air available for the system to tap into, I suspect this be remembered a disappointingly cold rain for most.   The storm should relinquish control of our area early in the week, with Wednesday-Friday being dry.   The models are teasing of a cut-off Atlantic low backing westward and spreading cold rain or wintry precipitation into our area for the holiday weekend – but it is far too early to get excited just yet.
