An upper-level low has remained stationary over New England this week. Daytime heating from the sun bubbled random showers and thunderstorms into the upper-level low’s cold air Tuesday and Wednesday, primarily in our northern counties. That upper-level low will slowly roll away and relinquish control of our weather on Friday. Overnight low temperatures this week have been quite refreshing, with widespread 40s. More summerlike temperatures and humidity will return to our area this weekend into next week.
FRIDAY
As that upper-level low loses control of our weather, sunnier skies will prevail on Friday. Humidity will remain low, and morning temperatures will be in the 40s in the normally colder locations.
SATURDAY
Saturday will be a mostly sunny day with slightly higher humidity. Temperatures will be in the upper-70s and low 80s across the area, along with light wind.
SUNDAY
Sunday will be a slightly hotter and more-humid version of Saturday, featuring light wind and ample sunshine. For those of you who might have feared Summer was over after this week’s taste of Autumn, enjoy!
BEYOND SUNDAY (Mon-Fri Aug 26-30)
A large upper-level ridge with hot summer weather will bake the Mississippi River / Plains. Our area will be on the eastern fringe and experience slightly above-normal temperatures with widespread highs in the low 80s with lows in the lower 60s.
Early in the week, there will once again be a somewhat stationary upper-level low over New England that could inspire a few isolated showers, but they should not be widespread. Later in the week, a cold front could bring a better opportunity for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night or Thursday.
