While much of the state enjoyed sunshine for the first time in a long time yesterday, a stretch of unsettled weather quickly returns to the area today and will last through tomorrow. A low pressure system to the west will be bringing with it scattered rain showers and even a few rumbles of thunder, especially as we progress into the latter part of the day. Taking a live look at the satellite this morning, you’ll notice clouds on the increase:

Day 1

Today’s Forecast: 5/10 Weather Day

The morning hours will remain primarily dry as clouds will be on the increase. Scattered rain showers will begin to develop, with the potential for a few rumbles of thunder. Severe weather is not likely. High temperatures will range anywhere from the upper 60s to the mid 70s.

Hi-Res NAM Future Radar Through Thursday AM:

Below is a look at the Hi-Res NAM future radar that displays the scattered showers for not only today, but tomorrow as well. Generally speaking, areas in the eastern half of the state have a better chance of experiencing higher rainfall amounts. Again severe weather is not likely, but a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out. The hourly timestamp is in the top left of the animation below:

Wednesday’s Forecast: 5/10 Weather Day

Widespread morning rain showers is likely across the eastern half of the state on Wednesday, with the rain showers becoming scattered in nature as we approach the afternoon and evening hours. Areas elsewhere can expect a chance for a scattered shower or two.

Rainfall Projection Through Wednesday:

Most of us between today and tomorrow will pick up another quarter of an inch to as much as an inch of rainfall in what has already been a very rain May.

Thursday’s Weather Forecast: 7/10 Weather Day

Lingering showers are possible as we wake up Thursday morning. As we approach the lunchtime hours, most of the precipitation should be completely wrapped up. Sunshine will still be hard to come by as clouds are expected to hold on strong.

Weekend Outlook:

As the theme has been recently, our state will not be able to escape the rain once again this weekend. As of right now, models are in agreement that Saturday will feature rainy conditions. Currently, Sunday is a toss up. Some models have the rain continuing into Sunday, while others have Sunday being dry. Stay tuned for updates as we move forward in the week!
