UNSETTLED SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY

Additional rain overnight into Sunday will cause for poor driving conditions across much of mid-southern NC. There is the possibility for some flash flooding and iffy driving conditions, so anywhere it is raining would be a good night to stay indoors.

Current radar above shows heavy rain in eastern NC with a tornado warning over the Outer Banks. There is some instability along the coast, so watch for some random spin-ups overnight.

DRYING OUT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY

Sunday we’ll dry out as the day goes on, but clouds could remain as the pesky disturbance over the Southeast will be slow to move out.

Monday we are back into the upper 70s and low 80s, as a quite seasonable or even slightly below average temperature trend will prevail. We will dry out here in the Carolinas into Monday, but there may be lingering clouds from our upper-level weekend system.

As the week progresses, the high temperatures will also. The “hottest day this week looks to be Wednesday with highs reaching into the upper 80s and even low 90s in spots.

Fortunately, for those that don’t like the heat, there are still no heatwaves expected in the near future. It’s also not looking overly dry, which is great news for farmers.

Lawns will grow at a very rapid rate since the humidity will be relatively high following all the rain. If the sun can break through the clouds, then it will start to feel like summer outside.

The tropics are slowly showing signs of coming to life, so we will be posting on that topic in the near future, if the signs remain. The official start of Hurricane Season is June 1st.

We will see if anything gets started before then, but our confidence is low. A weak tropical storm is not unheard of in late May.
