Today many of us have experienced one of the coldest days in Pennsylvania in the last several years. Wind chill values have bottomed out anywhere from negative 10 to negative 30 degrees across the state today. Truly remarkable numbers for our area. Unfortunately, dangerous wind chill values will continue to be an issue through Sunday. Wind chill values will remain well below zero through Sunday morning. Winds are expected to begin to calm by Sunday afternoon, so we do expect wind chills to be less brutal by then.
Waking up Saturday morning will once again be downright bone chilling. Wind chill temperatures are expected to range anywhere from zero to negative 20 degrees across the state. Take a look below at the latest GFS wind chill value projections valid 7:00 AM Saturday morning:
Wind chill value temperatures are expected to remain below zero even as we head into the afternoon hours Saturday. Sunday morning will be another brutally cold morning with wind chill values once again below zero degrees. Take a look at the latest GFS projections below for 7:00 AM Sunday morning:
We cannot stress enough the danger of these temperatures, specifically for frostbite. Any skin that is exposed to these temperatures for as little as 10 minutes could result in frostbite! Look at this wind chill value chart put together by the National Weather Service:
With wind chill values expected to be between zero and negative 20 degrees this weekend, frostbite could occur between 10 and 30 minutes. So please, wear appropriate gear for this near record breaking cold we are having and do not forget about pets!

Area A: Wind chill values are expected to range from negative 10 and negative 20 degrees through Sunday morning. Frostbite may occur if your skin is exposed to the outside temperature for too long.
Area B: Wind chill values are expected to range from 0 to negative 10 degrees through Sunday morning. Frostbite may occur if your skin is exposed to the outside temperature for too long.
Area C: Wind chill values are expected to range from 10 to 0 degrees through Sunday morning. Frostbite is possible.
