Today

Many of us are starting in the 50s this morning, with some 40s in the deep valleys in the Northern PA mountains and 60s around Philadelphia. This will be about as comfortable as we’ll get it for a long time, as our averages continue to rise despite losing daylight now ever so slowly. Highs today will be in the 70s, possibly approaching 80 in the typical warmer valleys of Southern PA. A few harmless clouds may be around, but other than that sunny skies will dominate.

Wednesday

Another mostly sunny day for Wednesday, with more clouds in Northern PA as the day goes on. Temperatures will be on the increase, but it won’t be terribly hot. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to upper 80s, which is only a couple degrees above average.

Thursday

Wall to wall sunshine is expected Thursday with high pressure overhead. Temperatures will also heat up significantly, with most areas hitting 90 degrees.

Friday

Friday will be the worst of the heat, with temperatures in the 90s basically statewide, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 100 on the board somewhere in Southern PA. Below are highs from the Euro model.

Saturday

We continue to watch the possibility for severe thunderstorms on Saturday. It looks like storms will fire up in Northern PA and work southeast into the late afternoon and evening. Damaging winds are the main concern but we’re still several days away so details remain fuzzy. The pink-outlined area appears to be the risk area Saturday.

Sunday

Unfortunately some model guidance is now hinting at showers and storms developing in the late morning and early afternoon mainly in the southern third Sunday. At the very least, clouds may be stubborn to depart until the late evening from north to south. Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s to mid 80s, with highest temperatures in areas not seeing precipitation.

Monday (4th of July)

Independence Day looks to bring dry weather across the state, with mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. Winds will be very light. Below are highs for Monday.

That’s all for today!
