As last week’s epic storm slowly drifts eastward into the Atlantic, we will get to enjoy a brief period of clear weather before the next system ejecting from the Rockies impacts our area with clouds for the eclipse.

That system will spread clouds into our area on Monday, although there could be enough breaks in the clouds over our area to afford the opportunity to view our partially-eclipsed sun.

For those of you journeying to totality, here is the projected cloud cover near the time of totality.  As previously alluded to, an area of high-mid level clouds will cover much of New York state.  The best opportunity ‘nearby’ to have clear skies along the path of totality will be northern New England, but even those locations will have high clouds encroaching on the eclipse.

This week will start dry and warm with above-normal temperatures.  However, a strong storm system will develop over the Southern Plains and move into the Great Lakes for the latter half of this week, spreading rainy conditions into our area Wednesday through Friday.

For everyone traveling for totality – have a safe trip and may you have clear skies!
