The snow cover continues to survive across the region despite the warm sunshine today.  The visible satellite loop from this afternoon nicely illustrates the extent of the snow cover.

TUESDAY

Gusty wind from the west ahead of an approaching cold front will persist overnight into Tuesday.  The gusty wind will prevent temperatures from falling below the mid 20s tonight.    That cold front will push north to south across our area during the morning hours, accompanied by snow squalls and followed by blustery wind from the northwest the rest of the day.  Additional snow squalls will be possible throughout the day behind the front.

Temperatures will remain steady or slowly fall into the low 20s during the day across our northern counties.  Our southern valleys will manage to climb into the 30s.    By evening, temperatures will range from the upper teens in the higher elevations and northern counties to the mid 20s in the southern valleys.

Another system moving across the northern Great Lakes will drag a warm front northward across our area Tuesday night, slowly pulling temperatures upward upward into the upper 20s across the region by Wednesday morning.  Some light snow could accompany the front Tuesday night, especially in our northern counties.

WEDNESDAY

A system pushing eastward from the Great Lakes and across New York and southern New England Tuesday night into Wednesday will drag warm front through our area by morning, accompanied by light snow in our northern counties.   That system’s cold front will push across our region during the afternoon and evening hours, once again bringing the opportunity for snow squalls.  Wind will gust over 30 mph from the west, then from the northwest behind the cold front.

THURSDAY

Thursday will be a cooler day, with ample sunshine across most of the area.  Some snow showers will stream across our norhern counties courtesy of the Great Lakes.
