On Thursday, January 26, NRG unveiled UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation as the newest beneficiary of its Choose to Give program. The organizations held a ceremonial “Flip the Switch” event to mark the launch of the plan, which allows NRG customers to support local nonprofits through their electricity and gas plans.

UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation is the first nonprofit in Pittsburgh to benefit from the Choose to Give program, which has contributed more than $8 million to nonprofits. Under this plan, NRG will contribute $50 to UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation for every electricity customer that enrolls and $25 for every natural gas customer. In addition, NRG will contribute one percent of the supply portion of each customer’s energy bill to UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation each year for as long as the customer remains on the plan.

UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation is the sixth children’s hospital NRG’s Choose to Give program supports. Other Pennsylvania-based hospitals and partners include Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence and Philabundance.

Besides helping kids, those who enroll in Choose to Give will also get the peace of mind that comes with locking in a fixed electricity supply price for 12 months. To learn more about NRG and the program, visit picknrg.com/upmc.
