After a wet and unsettled weekend, drier conditions are expected as we head towards midweek. The remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia brought a general 1-2 inches of rain over the weekend, and unsettled conditions remain in place as the remnant low-pressure system lurks off the Jersey Shore. However, as Ophelia drifts east, a break in the clouds and more pleasant early fall conditions are on the way for mid-week.
Tuesday
Tuesday will mark the final day of wet weather as the remnants of Ophelia will continue to bring onshore flow to the region. Overcast skies and scattered rain showers will remain in place as you wake up tomorrow but will begin to taper off by the late morning hours. Morning lows will start in the mid-upper 50s.
By the afternoon, showers should clear the area as the remnant low from Ophelia drifts to the east. Cloud cover should remain in place through the afternoon, however, northern zones are more likely to see a break in the clouds by evening. Expect temperatures to remain fairly consistent throughout the day, with seasonably cool afternoon highs peaking in the low 60s. Additionally, winds will remain blustery out of the NE at 10-15mph with occasional gusts 20-30mph.
Clouds will finally clear the area for all Tuesday night.
Wednesday
As clouds finally clear, expect a brighter and crisp start to the day on Wednesday. Morning lows will dip into the upper 40s- low 50s. Some scattered high clouds are expected throughout the day, otherwise mostly sunny skies will continue into the afternoon hours. High temperatures will remain slightly below average peaking in the mid-60s. Expect winds out of the NE at 5-10mph.
Thursday
Mostly sunny skies will remain in place Thursday morning with lows starting in the low 50s. Cloud cover will increase throughout the day on Thursday as another low-pressure system begins to approach the region from the west. Skies may become overcast by the evening hours however rainfall should hold off. Highs will peak into the upper 60s. Expect winds out of the NE at 5-10mph.
