A strong storm system will be delivering rain to the state as we head into the afternoon and evening hours today. Below is a look at the current radar: 

 

Today’s Weather Forecast: 5/10

Increasing clouds this morning will lead to showers by the afternoon hours with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. Heading into the evening and nighttime hours, the rain may increase in intensity especially over eastern Pennsylvania where a rumble of thunder is even possible. If you have outdoor plans for tonight, please plan accordingly.

New Year’s Day Weather Forecast: 5/10

As the storm system passes to our northeast, wraparound winds from the northwest will allow for lake effect snow and snow showers to impact the state, especially across northwest Pennsylvania. Temperatures will be on the decrease throughout the day, while winds will be on the increase!

Lake effect snow and snow showers will be on the increase throughout the day Wednesday. The majority of the accumulating snow will be confined to the Laurel Highlands as well as northwestern Pennsylvania. Elsewhere, accumulations will be little to none. 

Thursday’s Weather Forecast: 7/10

Temperatures Thursday will be significantly colder, however most locations will see a mix of clouds and sunshine. Lake effect snow will continue across northwestern Pennsylvania.
