With moderate drought conditions present in much of the state after a very dry Spring, we finally are moving into a more active pattern that will bring beneficial rain. A cold front will push through Monday, bringing steady rain for a period as well as the threat for a few severe thunderstorms.

Storm Timing

Southeast PA: Widespread showers and embedded strong to isolated severe thunderstorms 1 – 5 PM Monday. Broken line of strong to isolated severe thunderstorms 7 – 10 PM Monday.

Northeast PA: Scattered showers possible 1 AM – 2 PM Monday, steady rain with embedded strong thunderstorms 2 – 9 PM Monday.

South Central PA: Scattered showers possible 9 PM Sunday – 10 AM Monday, steady rain with embedded thunder likely 10 AM – 1 PM Monday. Broken line of strong to isolated severe thunderstorms 3 PM – 8 PM Monday.

North Central PA: Scattered showers possible 10 PM Sunday – 9 AM Monday, steady rain with embedded thunder likely 9 AM – 3 PM. Monday. Broken line of thunderstorms 3 – 7 PM Monday.

Southwest PA: Scattered showers possible now – 5 AM Monday, steady rain likely 5 AM – 1 PM Monday.

Northwest PA: Scattered showers possible now – 4 AM Monday, steady rain likely 4 AM – noon Monday.

Rainfall Totals Forecast

Highest rainfall totals will be in Northern Pennsylvania due to a longer period of steady rain there. Totals will be more hit or miss in South Central & Southeast PA due to less steady rain and more scattered thunderstorms.

Severe Thunderstorm Threat Forecast for Monday (6/12)

Area A: An isolated severe thunderstorm threat across generally the southeast quarter of the state between 3 – 9 PM Monday as the low pressure slides just north of the region. Damaging winds are the only risk, and locations within the isolated threat area have a 10% chance of seeing damaging wind gusts (58mph+) within a 10 mile radius.

The next chance of showers and thunderstorms is Wednesday.
