Good Evening, Everyone! Last week was quite eventful, and our region got its first taste of legit winter weather in a number of years. This week, a parade of shortwaves will ride along a stationary front, bringing a stretch of unsettled weather to the region. However, warmer weather will also gradually move into the region, meaning precipitation this week will come mostly in the form of rain. I’m sure the milder weather will be welcomed by some of you, but days of clouds, rain chances, and melting snow will make this week quite miserable. Continue reading for details!

Tuesday

Expect mostly cloud skies to start your Tuesday. Temperatures will start in the upper 20s across the region with light winds. Scattered precip will move into our northern counties by midmorning. Temperatures will remain below freezing in these regions through the morning. This will lead to a brief period of light icing across portions of Lebanon, Northern Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties. Scattered freezing rain and rain showers will move north of the region by the afternoon. Overcast skies will remain into the afternoon. Highs will top out near 40 degrees, and winds will remain light and variable.  Wednesday

Overcast skies will remain into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will start in the mid-30s region-wide. Steady light rain will move in by the early afternoon. Rain will linger into the evening. Temperatures will slowly rise throughout the day, reaching the low 40s by the afternoon. Winds will be light and variable.

Thursday 

Temperatures will hold steady overnight, with on-and-off rain showers continuing into the morning. A break in precipitation is possible around mid-day. Temperatures will warm well above average into the upper 40s – mid-50s. Winds will be out of the SW at 5-10mph with gusts to 15mph. Steady rain will move back in overnight and linger into Friday morning.

Overall, a modest amount of rainfall is expected over the coming days. Rainfall will not be heavy at any time over the coming week. However, consistent waves of showers and light rain will add up over time. About 1″ of rain is expected across the region through Friday morning.
